AJC Seattle

Dear Friends of AJC,

The approaching High Holy Days give us the opportunity to renew our spiritual commitment and connect with family and friends. As the President of the AJC Seattle Regional Office,I invite you join me as I renew my support for AJC because it is the best organization working to ensure a stronger and better Jewish future in a more just world.

As the father of two young children I am, of course, concerned about the Jewish world in which they live. Like you, I am also very concerned with the safety and security of all Jews in the United States, in Israel or wherever they call home.

AJC is critical to the survival of the Jewish people around the world and has been a crucially important voice in reminding the world that Israel is a genuine and vibrant democracy, indeed the only democracy in the Middle East, despite a permanent security threat. This year at the AJC Global Forum Hillary Rodham Clinton said, “There are so many ways that the American Jewish Committee has advanced and spoken to the enduring bond between the United States and Israel. AJC recognizes that we are two nations woven together with our stories, our stories of struggle and triumph, of hope and disappointment. We are beacons for pilgrims and people yearning to be free.”

In Seattle, we implement the AJC vision as our staff and board conduct interfaith and intergroup dialogue to build partnerships based on mutual understanding. Our office is an active leader to defeat local measures that delegitimize Israel and our AJC Seattle Jewish Film Festival enjoyed record ticket sales even in a down economy, highlighting its continued importance as a treasured cultural event for the community.

When I think of the world that my children and grandchildren will inherit, I am thankful for AJC, an organization that is working tirelessly on their behalf. I have personally witnessed the incredible local and global impact of AJC to bring diverse people to the table for meaningful dialogue, to advocate for Israel and to stand up to all forms of hatred.

In order to continue this vital work, AJC needs your support. As you sweeten the New Year with apples and honey, please include as one of your traditions a generous gift to AJC. If you would like to get more involved and learn more about what we do, feel free to call me at 206-622-6315 and the AJC office will forward me your message. Also, please visit www.ajc.org for up to the minute news and analysis. Thank you.

Shana Tova to you and your loved ones.

Adam Goldblatt, President

AJC Seattle Regional Office
